I woke up at 23.37 pm again. I don't know what was on my mind that didn't let me sleep again. My thoughts were so disordered. I couldn't get them sorted, they switched from one to another. It gave me a damn headache. I finally opened my eyes. I felt Ryo beside me, I was lying in his arms. I perked up my ears and tried to hear his breathing. It was as low as a little summerbreeze. Angel - like. I tried to figure out if he already fell asleep. But his breath never changed, he even didn't snorre (thank god!) which made it even harder guessing if he still was there. I closed my eyes. Everything was how it should be. I was here, in Ryos arms, where I belonged. And I couldn't get sleep because I was afraid of something. Something I needed to figure out. My stomach signalized I was hungry. I didn't have had dinner this evening, I was so exhausted from work, I was sure I would burn the house down while trying to toast some bread. Ryo also wasn't at home and Xyrene was out with her friend Mirabeau. I threw myself on the bed and fell asleep. And now my body protested against my negligence. I carefully turned around when I heard Ryos soft voice speaking: "What's wrong, honey?" So he didn't sleep. Or had I awakened him? "Everything's fine", I responded quickly. "I'll just grab some fruit from the kitchen. I'm starving." I got up and made my way to the kitchen. On the half way I noticed he followed me. "What's with you? Go sleep again, I didn't mean to wake you up", I whispered. He still followed me. "You didn't wake me up", he said. "I wasn't sleeping. And now let me make sure you will eat something better than fruit." He put his arms around me and kissed my neck. I felt my body was shivering. I loved the way he was touching me. He softly directed me to a chair and made me sit down. "You really don't have to do this... ", I began to protest but it was senseless. When Ryo had something in his mind, any protests didn't worth it. "Darling, you don't have a healthy breakfast when you leave for work, when you go to lunch you buy fastfood and when you come home, you are too weary with working for eating. I think, I have to do this for your own good. I don't want you to get ill because of wrong food." Ah, he was so sweet and caring - and he made me feel guilty. I knew I wasn't eating that healthy as many other people... but I never saw a big problem in this. Ryo began to potter about in my kitchen and I was too tired to disagree nor to hold him up. I sat there and watched him. I was so lucky to have him. What if I would loose him someday? Nobody spoke a word. He cooked and I watched. The way he prepared everything, as a matter of course for him, he was so quick and easily. From time to time he looked at me and then I smiled at him and he smiled back. It began to smell good. I closed my eyes. I concentrated myself on the delicious smell, the alluring sound of the fried whatever he prepared and I wondered what he would cook for me. When I opened my eyes again, I saw that he looked a me in sorrow. He was about to cut something. "You don't look like you're fine", he said in a low voice. He even didn't pay attention for what he was doing. I was in sorrow he could cut himself, but he cutted it with such a safeness liek he could do it when he was asleep. "I don't think I am fine", I said. "This is the second week that I can't get enough sleep because of my thoguths, dreams and nightmares. I feel very bad indeed." Surprisingly he smiled benignly. "Maybe because you don't eat enough?", he guessed. I wanted to dissagree but he shook with his head and I kept my mouth closed. I knew he was right. There was no sense in fighting. I closed my eyes again and felt even more ashamed. Did I deserve this guy? Definetly no. He was such a good guy. Ways to good for me. And nevertheless he was with me, this was my man, a carring, friendly, charming man and he was mine. I felt his hands on my shoulders. He began to massage me. "Go ahead", he whispered i my ear. "Bon appetit!"
I opened my eyes and couldn't believe it. He prepared a salmon filet with rice and a tasty smelling sauce with vegetables in it. The scent was incredible. I took the fork beside my plate and began to eat. It was as delicious how it looked and smelled. I'm sure I never ate something THAT good. While I was eating, Ryo kept massaging me and I felt relaxed and peaceful. "This is delicious", I mumbled. I felt his smile behind me. "There's enough left for a second plate", he said. I ate my second plate. Then I leaned back while Ryo kept the massage. A while nobody spoke a word. I sensed that I slowly was fading away. My chaos of thoughts was gone. My mind was clear and tired. Obamas to Plant Vegetable Garden at White House ...By MARIAN BURROS...

WASHINGTON — Michelle Obama will begin digging up a patch of the South Lawn on Friday to plant a vegetable garden, the first at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden in World War II. There will be no beets — the president does not like them — but arugula will make the cut.

While the organic garden will provide food for the first family’s meals and formal dinners, its most important role, Mrs. Obama said, will be to educate children about healthful, locally grown fruit and vegetables at a time when obesity and diabetes have become a national concern.

“My hope,” the first lady said in an interview in her East Wing office, “is that through children, they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate our communities.”

Twenty-three fifth graders from Bancroft Elementary School in Washington will help her dig up the soil for the 1,100-square-foot plot, in a spot visible to passers-by on E Street. (It is just below the Obama girls’ swing set.)

Students from the school, which has had a garden since 2001, will also help plant, harvest and cook the vegetables, berries and herbs. Virtually the entire Obama family, including the president, will pull weeds, “whether they like it or not,” Mrs. Obama said with a laugh. “Now Grandma, my mom, I don’t know.” Her mother, she said, will probably sit back and say: “Isn’t that lovely. You missed a spot.”

Whether there would be a White House garden had become more than a matter of landscaping. The question had taken on political and environmental symbolism, with the Obamas lobbied for months by advocates who believe that growing more food locally, and organically, can lead to more healthful eating and reduce reliance on huge industrial farms that use more oil for transportation and chemicals for fertilizer.

Then, too, promoting healthful eating has become an important part of Mrs. Obama’s own agenda.

The first lady, who said that she had never had a vegetable garden, recalled that the idea for this one came from her experiences as a working mother trying to feed her daughters, Malia and Sasha, a good diet. Eating out three times a week, ordering a pizza, having a sandwich for dinner all took their toll in added weight on the girls, whose pediatrician told Mrs. Obama that she needed to be thinking about nutrition.

“He raised a flag for us,” she said, and within months the girls had lost weight.

Dan Barber, an owner of Blue Hill at Stone Barns, an organic restaurant in Pocantico Hills, N.Y., that grows many of its own ingredients, said: “The power of Michelle Obama and the garden can create a very powerful message about eating healthy and more delicious food. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say it could translate into real change.”

While the Clintons grew some vegetables in pots on the White House roof, the Obamas’ garden will far transcend that, with 55 varieties of vegetables — from a wish list of the kitchen staff — grown from organic seedlings started at the Executive Mansion’s greenhouses.

The Obamas will feed their love of Mexican food with cilantro, tomatillos and hot peppers. Lettuces will include red romaine, green oak leaf, butterhead, red leaf and galactic. There will be spinach, chard, collards and black kale. For desserts, there will be a patch of berries. And herbs will include some more unusual varieties, like anise hyssop and Thai basil. A White House carpenter, Charlie Brandts, who is a beekeeper, will tend two hives for honey.

The total cost of seeds, mulch and so forth is $200, said Sam Kass, an assistant White House chef, who prepared healthful meals for the Obama family in Chicago and is an advocate of local food. Mr. Kass will oversee the garden.

The plots will be in raised beds fertilized with White House compost, crab meal from the Chesapeake Bay, lime and green sand. Ladybugs and praying mantises will help control harmful bugs.

Cristeta Comerford, the White House’s executive chef, said she was eager to plan menus around the garden, and Bill Yosses, the pastry chef, said he was looking forward to berry season.

The White House grounds crew and the kitchen staff will do most of the work, but other White House staff members have volunteered.

So have the fifth graders from Bancroft. “There’s nothing really cooler,” Mrs. Obama said, “than coming to the White House and harvesting some of the vegetables and being in the kitchen with Cris and Sam and Bill, and cutting and cooking and actually experiencing the joys of your work.”

For children, she said, food is all about taste, and fresh and local food tastes better.

“A real delicious heirloom tomato is one of the sweetest things that you’ll ever eat,” she said. “And my children know the difference, and that’s how I’ve been able to get them to try different things.
